VIRTUAL Art Masterclass

In this masterclass, led by the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) Creative Workshop Tutor Coral Brookes, you will gain an introduction into sculpture, exploring objects and artefacts in new and experimental ways. You will also have an opportunity to learn about creative careers and hear from a UCA Student Ambassador about what it’s like to study at a creative arts university.

This masterclass will be delivered through scheduled live sessions in the morning and afternoon that you will participate in, as well as periods of time where you will create your own work, with tutor support available via email.
The morning session will comprise a presentation about creative careers and the University of the Creative Arts, followed by a Q&A with a UCA Student Ambassador who will share experiences of being a student at a creative arts university and the different pathways from the post-16 diploma to undergraduate degree courses.
TIMINGS:
10 am – 12 pm: Live online introduction to creative careers, UCA and Q&A session with a UCA Student Ambassador. An introduction to Creative Workshop Tutor Coral Brookes and the medium of sculpture.
12 pm – 3pm: Lunch break and independent time to develop the skills and ideas explored in the first part of the session and create a contemporary artefact using clay, plaster, recycled materials or objects.
3 pm – 4 pm: Live online session and sharing of work on Padlet.
Important information:
This course is free to attend and will take place via an online classroom on Blackboard Collaborate, a secure platform which is used by University for the Creative Arts.
You may wish to participate via audio, though this is not a requirement and we recommend participation via the chat/messaging function on the page. You will not use a webcam or participate via video. All sessions will be monitored and supervised by University of the Creative Arts employees and will be recorded to allow for multiple viewings by students on the course.
Participants will be sent a secure link to the virtual classroom to ensure that only students with an approved place on the course and UCA employees will have access to the room.
All art materials will be provided free of charge, but this workshop involves the use of materials from home. In advance of this workshop please collect objects to create textures in clay (e.g. shells, leaves, keys, bottle caps, etc) as well as recycled packaging (e.g. bubble wrap and newspaper).
Successful applicants will be provided with a free materials pack to support the workshop.
Students will be invited to photograph or share their work on HEON’s instagram channel after the event.
