How to... Prepare for A-Levels

In September you might be moving onto a college or sixth form to start your A-Levels. It can seem quite daunting moving to this next step, so we’ve prepared a handy guide to help you with this! Don’t forget to check the other resources on the website including tips on managing your workload and time, writing critically, and many more.

In this How-to module, we’ll take you through:

  • What to pack in your bag
  • What to wear
  • How to work backwards from your deadlines

How to work backwards from a deadline

  • When you receive a deadline, work backwards to create a plan:
  • Write down your deadline on a piece of paper and write a list of tasks you need to do in the lead up to the deadline. For example, any background reading you need to do, drafts to be handed in, independent reading you need to do.
  • Once you have all the tasks written, then you can start to create a timeline of when you need to complete the different tasks by.
  • Top Tip: Always give yourself a buffer before all your deadlines for any unforeseen circumstances
