january 2023 NEWSLETTER
Let’s LOOK BACK …
Even with Christmas being at the fore front of a lot of the schools and colleges minds we were able to deliver some very developmental and progressive activity to a number of students throughout the month of December.
We saw our ‘Attainment Raising’ pilot programme kick off with Collingwood College, fingers crossed we will be able to reveal more on this later on in the year in preparation for next academic year.
Delivery of ‘Apprenticeship’ and ‘Wellbeing & Resilience’ workshops at The Wavell took place with their Year 11 students.
We continued to deliver one of our flagship programmes, FOCUS, to all three of our participating schools; Alderwood Senior School, Cove School & Christs College. We welcomed all three schools onto campus at Farnborough College of Technology, where we delivered a staggered timetable consisting of a ‘College Application Workshop’, a campus tour, and a fantastic motivational talk from Kamal Ellis-Hyman from ‘Aim A Little Higher’.
Alongside the visit, we also delivered separate modules to Christs College and Cove School students as part of the FOCUS programme. These modules focused on ‘Wellbeing’ and ‘Employability’ respectively.
We also continued to deliver catch up sessions with students taking part in our ‘Foresight’ programme at Fernhill School, which aims to raise aspirations of students from a black background.
If you would like to discuss any of the activities above then please feel free to get in touch with your allocated Partner Officer or Nathan Simpson directly.
What’s UPCOMING?
Each month we’ll be looking at what’s upcoming over the next month or so, this will give you a flavour of what your school can access throughout the academic year.
February sees the conclusion of the FOCUS programme for all three of our participating schools. We look forward to tying these up and continuing to work with any students that may need additional support as we move closer to their exams.
We will also be delivering a number of taster days based out of the University of Surrey and University for the Creative Arts for both The Beacon School and Alderwood Senior School. Students will gain an insight into life in HE/FE and be given tours of the campus as well.
The Spring residential and Summer School will also be heavily at the forefront of our promotion and planning. Applications are now open and we will be continuing to push this to our schools. Spring residential applications close on January 31st.
If you would like to book any activity in preparation for the Spring/Summer term please do not hesitate to get in touch.
We look forward to working with you in the near future!
