In Chapter 18 Leila shows one of her pieces of art to Tamal who initially cannot see anything apart from some squiggly lines. Leila places it further away and Tamal eventually sees a woman within the picture. Leila explains that it is an illusion. “Sometimes when we look at something we don’t really see it the way we should. Sometimes, to understand we have to look a second time.” Leila’s statement above can apply to many things and has great importance when considering how we might make initial judgements about people
