Shrink Art Keyrings at Bellfields
- Monday 24th September -
On Monday 24th September, HEON once again went to Bellfield’s – this time to make Shrink Art Keyrings, an activity inspired by UCA’s BA (Hons) Jewellery & Silversmithing. The young people were able to create their own bespoke designs, or use provided imagery for inspiration, and then used a heat tool to shrink the plastic down to make their keyring. A multitude of designs were created including mandalas, unicorns, hedgehogs, sharks, and even poop emojis!
Take a look at some of the great keyrings that were made:

Bath Bombs at Bellfields
- Monday 30th July -
On Monday 30th July, HEON visited Bellfields Community Centre once again for an interactive bath bomb making session. The young people were asked to think of how scents and colours could work together, and to think about the design and colour of their own bath bomb. We then helped them to make their own bath bomb and to carefully add essential oils to evoke the different emotions they hoped their bath bomb would create. Ideas from the young people included a relaxing bath bomb with lavender, or an energising bath bomb with using lemon and orange oil. The bath bombs were finished off with a choice of liquid lustre and rose petals for a professional look and taken home. Another successful evening!
Residential Summer School
- Monday 25th June to Thursday 28th June 2018 -
On Monday 25th June to Thursday 28th June 2018, HEON held its second Residential Summer School at The University of Surrey. The aim of the summer school was to give the students a variety of interactive taster sessions across a wide range of disciplines to encourage them to get outside of their comfort zones, and explore the options available to them. The students stayed in university halls, giving them a taste of independent living and experience what university life is like, and took part in several social activities including bowling, a cinema trip, and a BBQ by the side of the beautiful lake on The University of Surrey's campus. Board games were also played all throughout the week, uniting the group and giving students several hilarious rounds of the quick-fire game "Password", as well as whodunit "Mafia" and exploding kittens!
